Kushabhadra River of Orissa


Kushabhadra river forms the complex of river systems which form the distributaries of the Mahanadi River and branches off from the river Kuakhai, which is a tributary of the river Mahanadi, at Balianta and flows in a south western direction towards Nimapara and Gopa area for 70-80 kms before sinking in to the Bay of Bengal near Ramachandi Temple, 24 km east of Puri in the Puri District of Orissa. Dhanua River is its main tributary of Kushabhadra river.

Indravati River of Orissa


       Indravati river of Odisha is a tributary of the Godavari River, located in central India. Indravati river originates from the Eastern Ghats of Dandakaranya range in Kalahandi district of Orissa and flows in a westerly direction, enters into Jagdalpur in Chhattisgarh state. It again travels in the westerly direction and then in southern direction before  meeting Godavari River at the border of Maharashtra, Chhattisgarh and Andhra Pradesh.
      The river during its course forms the boundary between the states of Maharashtra and Chhattisgarh at various places. Most of the river course is through dense forests of Bastar. The length of the river is 535 km with a drainage area of 41,665 square km.
The Indravati is also known as the "lifeline" of the Bastar district of Chhattisgarh, one of the greenest districts in India.

Biju Patnaik Airport of Orissa


Biju Patnaik Airport also known as Bhubaneswar Airport, is situated in the city of Bhubaneswar, Orissa. It is currently the only major airport of Orissa. It is named after the former Chief Minister of Orissa Biju Patnaik, who was also famed as an aviator and freedom fighter.

Bhargavi River of Odisha

Bhargavi River originates from Bharga. Bhargavi river flows across Khurda district of Orissa. It forms the Mahanadi-Kuakhai distributary system branching off from Kuakhai river and drains into the Chilika Lake. The length of the river is 1,465 km km, and it drains in Bay of Bengal near Chilika Lake.

Ib River of Odisha


Ib river originates in hills near Pandrapet at an elevation of 762 meter. It passes through Raigarh district and Jashpur district of Chhattisgarh and Jharsuguda and Sundargarh District of Orissa and finally meets Mahanadi at Hirakud Dam in the state. Ib river valley is famous for its rich coal belt. The length of the river is 252 km, and drains an area of 12,447 square km.

Nagabali river originates from the Bijipur Hills of the Eastern Ghats, near the Lanjigarh. Out of its total length of 256 km, it travels 161 km through Orissa.

Mahanadi River of Odisha


Mahanadi, one of the largest rivers in south-east India and the 6th largest in India. its originates from the Amarkantak hills of the Bastar Plateau in Raipur District of Madhya Pradesh. The total 858 km length of the river travels through a gorge in the Eastern Ghats, across Orissa, forming a delta before entering in to the Bay of Bengal near Cuttack.

Mahendra Tanaya River is an important tributary of the Bansadhara River River. It is originated from the Mahendragiri range of Gajapati District (Orissa) and flows towards west in Rayagada and then turns south towards Gosani.

Kolab River of Odisha


Kolab river is originates in the Eastern Ghats of  Koraput district and flows through Orissa. It is a tributary of Godavari River and the total catchment area is 20400 square km.

Jira River of Odisha

Gobari River of Odisha


Gobari or Gobardhana river is a major river flowing through Kendrapada District. It merges with river Devi at Garoi in Jagatsinghpur District where Sri Gobardhan Pitha Garoi Ashram is situated. Then it continues its path to the north, with the name Gupta Ganga (hidden Ganges). The river flows near Olasuni Hill.

Budhabalanga River of Odisha


Budhabalanga is a 175 km long river originating from the eastern slopes of Similipala formation. It has a total catchments area of 4,840 square k.m. Son, Gangadhar, and Catra are its major tributary rivers.

Bansadhara River of Odisha

The Bansadhara river or Vamsadhara river originates from the flanks of the Lingaraj hills, in Kalahandi district. Of its total length of 254 km, the river travels 150 km in Orissa. It has a total catchment area of 11,500 square km.

Baitarani River of Odisha


Baitarini river is a long river originating from the Gonasika hills of Keonjhar District. It has a total catchment area of 12,790 square KM. The length of the river is 365 km.

Bahuda River of Odisha

Bahuda river originates from the Ramgiri hills of Gajapati District. It then passes through Ganjam District and enters Srikakulam District of Andhra Pradesh, where it joins into the Bay of Bengal. The length of the river is 73 km and has a catchment area of 1250 square km.

Salandi River of Odisha

Salandi river originates from the Meghasani Hills in Orissa. It passes through Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar and Bhadrak districts. It has a total length of 144 km and boasts of a catchment area of 1793 square km.
