Rushikulya River of Odisha


Rushikulya river originates from the Eastern Ghats in Orissa. It passes through the Kandhamal and Ganjam districts and finally drains into the Bay of Bengal.

    The length of the river is 165 km, has a catchment area of 8900 square km. The main feature of this river is that, there is no delta at its mouth.In 1993, biologists from the Orissa Forest Department and the Wildlife Institute of India learned that large scale nesting of Olive Ridley turtles was taking place near the mouth of the Rushikulya river.
